Princess presimmon root propagation by Seiji Shiba.

Root propagation should be done in dormant season. Mother tree is grown in 1.5 gallon pot for 4 years. Make sure to plant male and female trees to get the fruits.

This photo shows the roots after the removal of soil and then washed. Roots are grown tight and very dense.

Main root is often twisted and very hard. Keep 3 to 4 inches for transplanting the mother tree. Rest could be utilized for propagation.

Roots are cut for propagation. Lenght could be any lenght but for Shohin Bonsai 2 to 6 inches.

Take off the hair root from top part where it will be above the soil. Exposed part of the root becomes tree trunk when it is grown. Plant in a small pot using typical Bonsai soil.
