Japanese black pine grafting by Seiji Shiba.

Wind wet raffia tightly around grafted part. Grafting tape or rubber elastic could be used. Secure it tight.

Cover each graft with plastic bag. A household plastic bag should work fine. About 3 inch by 4 inch in size.

Cut to open a side of the bag so that it will cover the grafting part easily.

Add wetted Sphagnum moss over the tied grafted part. Cover with the plastic bag. Tie the bottom using Raffia string. The idea is to keep the graft moist. You can add water by using a small syringe.

Trim the excess roots. Remove the vertically grown roots. Remove the center crown root if there is one.
