Spread the root when you plant. Cut the stock pine about a half height. This will stop the growth of the stock and the scion will get the growth.

Keep the plant in semi-shaded place (Morning sun only). Water regularly. In 9 month (September) the candle should be growing to reach the end of the plastic bag. Slowly open the plastic bag over several weeks. Reduce the stub by half latter that year and then remove all the stub the following year. Seal with cut paste for best healing of scar.

In 4 years you will have a fine bonsai stock like this.
