San Jose Betsuin Bonsai Club is an organization for the bonsai hobbyists for cultivation, education, and promotion of Japanese bonsai culture. Current membership spans from experienced elders to young teenagers with varying bonsai experiences. Because our members are in various stages of their bonsai experiences, it should be easy for newcomers to fit in at any level.
Our club meets once a month to work on bonsai. These monthly workshops are informally structured so that the members can work on his or her own bonsai on one's own pace lead by our expert members. From time to time in the past, the club hosted special guests at the workshop for bonsai instruction and demonstration. For people who are just starting or those desiring more time to work on bonsai, the club holds Beginner's Workshop usually once a month. The Annual Spring Bonsai Exhibition is our major event of the year. Most members participate in some aspect of this show which is held for two days in April.
San Jose Betsuin Bonsai Club is a member of Golden State Bonsai Federation (GSBF) and supports GSBF's activities as well as the bonsai and suiseki display garden, Golden State Bonsai Collection-North in Oakland. During the course of the year, the club participates with other clubs for California Juniper collection outings, bonsai nursery trips, suiseki hunts, etc.
